2 June Leon to Mazarife

Leon 7:55am
Lovely sleep in this morning. The arthritis in my rihht knreis getting to be s slight problem - I was a little sore overnight. I can't leave town till after 10am when I put some money on the phone.  I can't get a sensible answer on where it all goes but that's only money and with yhe language barrier I don't think I will find out.

For distance to walk I have 3 options.  The first is to the Southwest edge of Leon where there is an albergue (less than 10km). The other is to walk 22km to Mazarife. I will decide when I reach the edge of Leon how I feel and whether to go on. All but one of my blisters are healing nicely.

Just out of Leon 1pm.
I have started the walk to Mazarife so I am now committed. The signs here are confusing. The two routes compete for pilgrims and even though I have chosen the left hand path the signs keep trying to ditect me back to Villardangos del Parmo when I want to go to Mazarife. I have 2 oranges,  3 bananas and a bag of peanuts for sustenance.  It is about 14 km more to Mazarife so I expect to arrive about 5 pm. The tummy is much happier today.  Not 100% but if I keep the input light I should cope. I will take electrolytes later in thr journey to boost my energy levels.

When I did my shopping I tied it to one of the pack strspd. The knot is now so tight I will never be able to undo it. In attempting to cut the knot I managed to cut the pack strap. Emergency repair done and fortunately it isn't a critical strap. Coming through Leon I had my shirt tied on the outside of my pack to dry. Now I am out of town snf tje shirt is dry I will tie my undies on the pack.  Didn't think that was quite done in th the big city.  If I don't get some sockd anf undies dry I will have nothing to wear after my shower at Mazarife.

For several days prior to Leon the Camino headed northwest.  Now it has turned back to the southwest which is the overall direction of the Camino.

Mazarife 6pm.
The walk today was across more barren country. - lots of it uncultivated but the odd ctop of wheat. There are a few trees so finding shade for rest stops. I thought I list one of my socks at a rrdt stop but found it 2 fays later. It is beautifully wsrm and I am sitting out in the garden enjoying the cool breeze.  It is now only 295km to Sntiago. I have discovered an error in my time line for the Camino and so now I am 2 days ahead so it should be easy to get to Finisterre if I feel inclined. Walked the last few kilometers into town with Jessica from Germany and Roger from near Bristol.
