1 June Villarente to Leon

Villarente 7:30am
I spent most of last night inspecting the plumbing . Not feeling at all good but I will try and stagger to Leon . All day and only 13km. I dreamt last night that my Camino was ending here - and it didn't seem bad. I think the inner journey is finished - how much more gut wrenching could it get? The outer journey is sore so if my body can't go on that is Ok.

La Posada Regis Hotel Leon 9:45pm
The walk to Leon was going very badly until Michelle from Gold Coast gave me some Gastrolyte which gave me some energy to walk. As it was it took me 4 hours to go 13 km and with out Michelle's help it would have been an extra hour or more. I had to wait in Leon to be able to check in. Went to the cathedral but it was closed until the afternoon so I wanderedddown the street window shopping until it was time.

I had a sleep and then a shower. I then had a look at the cathedral which I found much less austentatious than Burgos. It was in danger of collapse in the 1850s because modifications had unbalanced the structure. Repaird took 50 years.

After visiting the cathedral I went to mass at the Basilica. This was a pilgrims mass and the sermon was on the Camino.  I wish I had enough Spanish to understand it as the priest was very energetic in his delivery and clearly was passionate about what he was saying. After returning to the hotel I spent a most luxurious hour soaking in the vath. I hope in the morning I am able to enjoy the breakfast that is costing me 10 euros.
