Bridge over Arroyo Madriz de la Cava 12:10pm
The road today has uneven gravel and I am finding the walking difficult. It was great talking to Gwen on Skype today. Jane said when she told Gwen she was going to talk to me she ran to the door.
The walk is just mechanical today . The scenery hasn't changed much for days and I no longer find any interest in it. There is a poster on the tree just before the bridge advertising rooms with a bath in a town about 9km ahead . It sounds very tempting.
Bananas and oranges for lunch today. The bananas come from Canary Islands and the oranges I presume from the south of Spain. A wind has come up in the last half hour and it is really pleasant in the gully away from the wind . It is also starting to cloud over but it doesn't look like rain.
It was a very leisurely departure from the albergue with David sharing his food for breakfast. Didn't leave till 8:30.
Mansilla de las Malas 2:45pm
Decided to stop for a beer and then continue to Villarente which is just over 5km. There are nearly 100 beds so getting there at 4:30 shouldn't pose a problem. I tried again to carry Jessica's pack for her but it is clearly a matter of pride for her to do it herself. The beer is good and they gave me a tapas with it which will provide fuel for the last few km.
Villarente 6:10pm
The patio is a sun trap. It's actually got too hot. Only found 1 person I've met before here - a Belgian man who started with his wife from home and they will do 2500km by the time they finish the loop through Finisterre. This albergue San Pelayo has a bit of that holiday park atmosphere I found at Cizur Menor.
