Getting ready

Walked today - me 6km dogs 5.2km
The time for putting things off till tomorrow is over. I now have to just get things done as I am leaving in 4 days. There are weather forecasts ou there now for the first 3 days of he walk (2 fine, 1 wet according to Metservice 1 fine, 2 wet according to MetVUW). I have started packing and I'm not sure how all the stuff I need will fit in the car to Christchurch - and that is without any of Paul's stuff.

Donations have reached $1000 which is a good start. I discovered today that the donation site isn't working for a lot of people at the bank - I suspect that those who still have IE6 can't use it. That will cut down donations heaps if it is true.

I took Rachelle's dog Sylvie to training for the first time tonight. Sylvie is a shaggy Maltese Bichon Frise cross. Since she hardly knows me she didn't want to go. When I picked her up to carry out to the car she just wanted to get away. she barked a lot on the way to Porirua and in the crate while we were setting up. Once I pulled the treats out and she worked out she won't get a treat for barking things improved. She is quite biddable so I don't think I will have too much problem training her. Here recalls are good and the stay OK. The only gear I took her near was a ramp. She took a lot of persuading to walk onto the ramp. It is a good reminder of how easy it is to train a Border Collie.
