I've started wearing a pedometer again so I can report that although I didn't take the dogs for a walk today I have 10442 steps - about 6km.
This morning I had a senior moment. Even though I go past Hirequip each day on the way to and from work I couldn't remember where they were. I drove off into town to where they used to be in Taranaki St but they moved from there a couple of years ago when the land was purchased to shift the road away from the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier - something that hasn't happened. After driving around for 10 minutes without finding them I went into work and looked them up on the net. I hired a heavy duty weedeater to kill the jungle that has developed in the last year when I keep deferring doing the weed-eating after I have mowed the lawn. A fearsome beast it was too - quite taxing of my non-existent upper body strength.
Next step was out to Porirua for Flygility. Interestingly most of our dogs had problems with the standard course. Chris Ross managed to get Toonie and Jack out to the box and back fault free on both practice and timed runs. Sonia Calvert's Sputnik managed to knock a pole off on the timed runs. The other dogs all went around the jump closest to the box on the practive run. Rapid also severely fluffed the team run - first he deviated off course when Chris took Jack up to cross with him and then he went around a jump and went to pieces on his rerun.
The challenge course produced a similar result with all the dogs that did not run with the handler going off course on the practice except for Chris's dogs. This time Tick knocked a rail on the timed run. But both teams had good results.
After packing up the Flygility I put the hi-viz jackets on myself, Rapid and Ella and we went around the breed show with a collecting bucket and came away with about $100. My thanks to exhibitors at Upper Hutt KennelAssociation show for the donations. Ella with her usual skill managed to persuade someone to feed her.
I visited my parents on the way home. The phone in the lounge has stopped ringing and with the volume Father has the TV at Mother doesn't hear the phone ringing in the kitchen. Ngaire was trying to ring them yesterday without success. Father seemed to be a bit less confused today but I don't think he will ever remember Rapid's name or that he is not a bitch.
Home and mowed the lawns. I have arranged for them to be mowed twice while I am away. I was really tired after all that I have wasted the evening achieving near enough to nothing.
