Day 48 Rest Day At Waipahi and Gore

I didn't set an alarm last night but was awake at 7am - which is the new 6am. Still too late as Ella had crapped in her crate. After letting the dogs toilet I went back to bed until 8:30am but didn't get back to sleep.

A leisurely breakfast of the Marama muesli and the gluten free bread that was in the bread maker. After fluffing around I was on my way at about 10am into Gore. A visit to the National Bank to pick up the Allevyn heel pads that Joanna had sent and to drop off Scott's keys to be returned. I looked in a couple of shops without success for the pressed wool insoles. The woman in one of the shops gave me a donation as she had seen me walking out of Alexandra with Rapid and Ella on Saturday morning on her way to set up a stall at the blossom festival. That was the only donation I got today - I just wasn't in the mood for touting. That makes this the worst day for collecting of the whole trip - and I hope it stays that way.

I had a massage at midday, then a leisurely luch before going in search of Wifi. The only place I found was McDonalds. Unfortunately I chose to try and upload a lot of photos and got bounced off by a data cap before I had dealt with all me emails. I then took the van down by the stop bank, let the dogs out and dealt with the rest of my email. After a while Ella climbed back in the van and Rapid lay down alongside it and went to sleep.

On returning to Waipahi I took the dogs for a walk up to the airstrip which has views over much of South Otago. It is about 1km each way so not exhausting for either me or the dogs who hooned around in the mud.

Ngaire had made a yummy dinner of chicken with an orange gravy and potato chips with the skins on. That was followed by a spa bath, a bit of messing around over a cup of tea nad the daily ritual of dressing the feet. The new heel pads have been put on and tested to ensure they don't cramp my toes inside the shoes. The proof will come tomorrow when I walk in them.
