The first rest day today. I went to church in the morning and got invited to have lunch with Billie Mackay. After lunch we went for a drive to Gore Bay and Port Robinson. Just after leaving Port Robinson it started to sleet. Within 10 minutes it was snow and before we got from Port Robinson to Dommet the snow was covering the road. The snow was about 1 inch deep by the time we got Cheviot. Shortly after it stopped. The snow melted off the roads fairly quickly but there was still quite a lot of snow on the side of the road when I took Ella and Rapid for a walk. Rapid quite enjoyed running around in it. Ella initally avoided the snow but then started rolling in it.
Went to dinner at the Cheviot Pub. Huge meals and a reasonable price. Paul & I have spent the evening talking to a couple of German tourists who are staying at the camp. They have two weeks to tour upper South Island before crossing to North Island. We spent the evening giving them suggestions.
